Extending thanks to my friend Paul Elsasser who let me edit one of his raw files, a practice I’m quite fond of. Editing a photo you didn’t take can be challenging and rewarding - perspective in photography has many connotations and exploring them keeps it interesting. His recent camera upgrade reminds me of the time in any artist’s progression when hobby or interest is elevated by the power of a newer, better instrument. It’s incredible. Pushing yourself to learn, try new things, improve. This is a welcomed symptom in any talented obsession and should always be encouraged. Above is a three panel of a self portrait he photographed and I edited. Panel one is the completely unedited raw file, the second an emulation of a specific film type and the third a black and white. The original edit can be found on Paul Elsasser’s blog: http://paulel365.tumblr.com/
